Final Update for the Shipping
16 days ago – Thu, Sep 17, 2026 at 06:26:03 AM

Hello everyone,

We're back with a short update.

As you know, most of the games have already reached you. However, there are still a small number of shipments to the US and a larger number to the EU and UK that have not yet been delivered.

Since this was our company's first time shipping games to Europe, we encountered a few regulatory procedures that we had not dealt with before. Certain tests and documentation were required for some of the materials used in the game, and we also had to complete additional steps related to taxation and customs compliance.

Unfortunately, these processes moved slowly for reasons beyond our control. There were ways to expedite some of them, but the costs were simply too high for a small studio like ours, so we had to wait for the standard process to run its course.

The good news is that the process is finally complete. As of today, all of the necessary steps have been finalized.

Starting next Monday, we will begin reshipping the packages that were returned to us.

Long story short: if you still haven't received your package, it should be in your hands no later than September 25.

We've also been informed that three backers received packages with missing components. We will send those replacement items out alongside the shipments going to their respective countries.

As a new company, this fulfillment process has been a challenging learning experience for us. We cannot thank you enough for your continued support, understanding, and patience throughout it all.

Thank you!

Shipping & Overall Project Notes
2 months ago – Sat, Jul 25, 2026 at 09:22:42 AM

Hello Everyone

There are several important matters that deserve clarification, along with some meaningful updates regarding shipping. Let's go through them one by one.

Shippings

As many of you have noticed, we experienced some delays with shipping. However, we're happy to say that approximately 75% of the games have now reached our backers. And we expect the remaining shipments to be delivered very soon.

What was the problem about the shipping?

In reality, we encountered two major issues.

The first was the situation with our shipping partner, which cost us a significant amount of time. It even led to the unusual situation of having shipments recalled and the games repacked before they could be sent again. Fortunately, this issue has now been resolved, but with the limited resources available to us, it took much longer than we would have liked.

The second issue was far more unpredictable and largely beyond anyone's control. Political instability in the region caused fuel prices, and consequently shipping costs, to rise significantly. On top of that, customs regulations in several countries changed during the fulfillment process, making international shipping even more complicated.

Most of these challenges have now been resolved, and the remaining ones also appear to be moving toward a solution. Unfortunately, every step of the process has been progressing much more slowly than expected.

If you still haven't received your game...

It's most likely due to one of two reasons.

The first possibility is that your pledge includes akeychain. Some shipments (not all) containing the keychain are taking longer because they require additional customs processing before they can be released for a reason. Fortunately, this is simply a matter of time and should resolve itself.

The second possibility is that you are located in a country where customs clearance requires additional documentation from us, this has been particularly common with some European countries. In this case, there are a few company documents we need to provide to the customs authorities. We've already submitted our applications, and once we receive the required registration numbers and forward them to customs, these shipments should begin moving as well.

Some Clarifications and Notes

Now that the project is entering its final stages, we feel it's the right time to reflect on the journey and address a few important topics.

Looking back on what has been both a challenging and educational experience for us, we recognize that there are certainly things we could have done better. Like any first-time fulfillment, the process has taught us valuable lessons, and we intend to carry those lessons forward into every future project.

The relatively small production run, combined with our own inexperience in certain areas, created a number of significant challenges and highlighted several aspects of the project that we know can be improved.

We'd also like to remind everyone that, although Kickstarter has increasingly become a marketplace in recent years, this project truly was a "kickstart" for us in the original sense of the word. Thank you for giving us this opportunity and for being part of this journey with us

Bad Things

Boards. We're not completely satisfied with the final quality of the game boards. We did everything we could to improve them and ultimately reached a standard we consider acceptable, but both the local industry and manufacturers are still relatively new to producing components of this type. Combined with our very limited budget, this meant we had to make some compromises. Improving component quality, especially the boards, is one of our highest priorities for future projects.

Some Component Changes. During production, we had to remove some of the deluxe components we had originally planned, including the acrylic pieces. We learned that manufacturing certain components in such small quantities simply wasn't feasible, and financial realities forced us to make some difficult decisions during the campaign. For example, we opted for wooden horse meeples rather than acrylic ones.

Rulebook. After the game was fully assembled and packaged, we realized there were a few areas of the rulebook that could benefit from additional clarification. These are not missing rules or rule changes, but rather explanations for questions that may naturally arise during play. When we have the opportunity, we plan to publish an FAQ to address these points.

Good Things

Expansions. Many of you have probably noticed that if you backed one of the mini expansions, you received the other one as well. At one point during fulfillment, we realized that packaging and shipping both mini expansions together cost essentially the same as sending just one. Rather than leave that opportunity unused, we decided to include both, and we hope you enjoy the extra content.

Card Quality. We can't honestly claim that our cards are of exceptional quality, way above standarts. However, we're very pleased that, through a great deal of trial and error, we were able to achieve clean, consistently cut cards. It may seem like a small detail, but for projects with limited budgets and relatively small print runs, manufacturing challenges like this can become surprisingly significant.

New Languages and Editions. We're currently in the final stages of reaching an agreement with a local publisher for a Turkish edition of the game. While it's not confirmed yet, there's also a promising possibility that a German edition will be published in the future. We'll be sure to keep you informed as these discussions progress. In addition, any improvements, corrections, or minor refinements identified during this first printing, many of them thanks to the careful feedback from our backers, will be incorporated into future print runs. We'll share more information as soon as we have news to announce.

Some Important Notes (About Missing Parts, Please Look Here)

Omen Cards Are Within Monster Deck. The Omen cards are the gold-colored cards found within the Monster Deck. They are titled Celestial Wolf, Dragon of Time, and Elder Moon. Since they are shuffled directly into the Monster Deck rather than packaged separately, please don't worry if you don't immediately notice them, they're already included with your game.

Both Expansions are In The Same Box. As mentioned above, we shipped both mini expansions together. Because of that, they should both be included in the same package. (Likewise, the Omen cards included with the expansions are also packaged within the Monster Deck.)

No Acrylic Pieces. As mentioned earlier, due to the financial and logistical challenges we faced during production, it is completely normal that your copy does not include the acrylic components. This is not a missing component or a packing error, it was a production decision we had to make along the way. Instead, we chose to invest those resources into improving the overall quality of the game for every backer, particularly the paper and cardboard components across all copies.

Card Quantities Changed. During development, a few component counts changed as we continued refining the game's design. These adjustments were made to improve the overall gameplay experience.

  • To better control the game's length and pacing, the number of Monster cards was reduced from 63 to 43. With the addition of the 3 Omen cards, the Monster Deck now contains 46 cards in total.
  • At the same time, to reduce the need for frequent deck reshuffling, the number of Recruit cards was increased from 47 to 70.

These updated component counts are already reflected in the final version of the rulebook.

Packaging Errors

Some backers initially believed that certain components were missing, primarily because we failed to explain where the Omen cards were packaged. After getting in touch with them, we were able to clarify the situation.

That said, we found that a small number of backers did indeed receive copies with genuine packing errors. For example, one backer received a copy without a rulebook.

If you believe your copy is genuinely missing any components, please send us an email along with a few photos of the contents of your box. The photos will help us quickly identify what's missing, and we'll gladly send the replacement components to you as soon as possible.

Everything we've learned on this journey is thanks to your support and patience. We'll take these lessons with us into every future project, allowing us to deliver games that are higher in quality, fulfilled more efficiently, and managed with greater confidence.

Thank you once again for making this journey possible!

A Quick Update About Shipping
3 months ago – Sun, Jun 21, 2026 at 01:13:13 AM

Hello Everyone,

Although we replied to some messages and comments, we did not want to post an update before there was a definite development to share. The main reason for this was that the shipping company assured us almost every day that the issue would be resolved quickly.

Now that the issue has been resolved, we can summarize the situation as follows:

Despite having a prior agreement, they informed us that due to changes in customs regulations they would not be able to ship the packages at the agreed price. We spent some time trying to resolve the issue with them, but when it became clear that it would not be possible, we moved on to negotiating a new agreement with another company. We also found an alternative solution that, while slightly less favorable, would solve the situation we found ourselves in.

However, shipping companies usually require payment in advance as account credit. Since we had already paid them, we requested a refund. This is where they kept us waiting for nearly two weeks. The good news is that they told us recently that they will issue a full refund on Monday.

All of the games are packed and ready to go as soon as this technical issue is fully cleared. Assuming we receive the full refund that was promised to us, the new shipping comany has stated that they will be able to dispatch packages within a few days according to their own schedule.

We know we fell a bit short when it came to communication, but part of the reason was that we ourselves were not receiving reliable information.

Thank you for your patience. In the spirit of Kickstarter, this is the first time we have done something like this, and we have learned an incredible amount of valuable information along the way that will help us avoid similar scheduling delays in the future.

Have a great day!

A Quick Update About Shipping
4 months ago – Sat, May 30, 2026 at 02:12:46 PM

Hello Everyone,

The games that we expected to reach you this week still haven’t arrived due to the holiday period. We’ve probably also been responding to your messages with a delay of a few days, again because of the holidays.

We had actually anticipated the holiday period itself, but what we failed to foresee was that the cargo planes right before the holiday would be completely full.

Tomorrow is the last day of the holiday, and after that we’ll get everything moving to you as quickly as possible.

Have a great weekend!

Good News & Late Pledges Are Ended
5 months ago – Fri, May 15, 2026 at 06:18:45 AM

Hello Warband!

As of today, we’ve closed the late pledge option because we’re finally ready to ship the games!

Yes, the process took a little longer than expected, both because we’re a small studio and due to a few unfortunate setbacks, but Warlords of the Steppes is now complete and waiting to reach your hands. All content (including the expansions) has been produced, packed, and received by us. The only collector’s accessory we’re still waiting on is the keychains, but those should arrive early next week as well. We can already hear the thunder of galloping warhorses!

Next week, we’ll send all of you emails containing your shipping tracking numbers. And since the games will be shipped by air, they should arrive quickly (2-3 days max). So, unless another unexpected issue appears, the games should be in your hands next week.

After we send out the tracking numbers, we’ll post one final update containing our closing thoughts and final notes about the project. Your support made this game possible and taught us a great deal. Once again, thank you endlessly!

See you next week!

Below, you can see a photo we excitedly (and very unprofessionally) took of boxes filled with copies of Warlords of the Steppes.
